로스트에어는 전자 음악 파티를 통해 ‘공간’을 일시적으로 점유하는 활동을 지속해 오고 있다. 2019년 학내 버려진 지하 공간 ‘대공분실’의 문을 다시 열면서 첫 활동을 시작했고, ‘로스트에어’라는 팀 이름 또한 공간 ‘대공‒분실’을 직역하여 만든 것이다. 여기에는 ‘분실된 대기’ 속을 쉼 없이 부유하면서 새로운 공간을 모색하겠다는 기획자들의 지향점이 담겨 있다. 로스트에어는 파티를 공간과 사람을 잇는 매개체로 상정하고 각각의 시공간에 맞는 방법을 찾아 파티를 여는 것으로 사람들에게 다가가고자 한다. 언더그라운드에서 활동하는 DJ, VJ, 프로듀서들과 협업해 기존 공간을 예술 활동을 위한 곳으로 변주해오고 있으며, 그러한 가운데 공간의 유/무형의 경계를 넘나드는 방법을 탐구하고 있다.
Lost Air is an interdisciplinary artists’ collective of 4 members (Dayoung Lee, Juyeong Park, Minju Park, Woogyeong Lee) based in Seoul, South Korea.
Lost Air explores the spatial and geometrical meanings of parties by occupying various locations temporarily to host electronic music parties. Their project started when ‘Dae-gong-bun-sil’, which can be translated to an anti-communist room, a former underground torture chamber abandoned at that time on the Korea National University of Arts campus reopened in 2019. The name of the team, Lost Air, is a literal translation of the chamber’s name. It shows their intention to find a new space while constantly floating in the ‘lost atmosphere.’ For Lost Air, a party is a medium that connects people and the space where it’s held. In this sense, Lost Air tries to reach the audience by hosting parties that bring forth the characteristics of the locations and the time. Collaborating with various DJs, VJs, and producers in the underground music scene, Lost Air aims to transform various existing spaces into places for artistic activities, seeking new ways to cross not only the tangible but also the intangible boundaries of spaces.
